The Soil Factory
Description
The Soil Factory is a community‑powered composting hub that brings people together to turn local food scraps into Living Soil and connection. Practical, grounded, and full of life.
The Soil Factory transforms local food waste (banana peels, coffee grounds, vegetable scraps) into living soil right in Forest Row, rather than sending it to distant industrial processing facilities.
The system is sealed and self‑contained. Each drop‑off is covered with a scoop of carbon material (wood shavings), which balances moisture and prevents smells. Regular checks by volunteer monitors keep everything tidy and pest‑free.
The station is located in the Forest Row Community Centre carpark, towards the back next to the Jubilee Gardens entrance. Open 24 hours for members – drop when it suits you.
